HomeEventsA Pilgrimage Walk

The physical action of walking slows down our busy minds. We begin to notice what is around and be present to God within it. Walking together, we enjoy the company of others. Quiet spaces along the way enable us to connect with our inner journey and how we experience the invitation of God within it.

Meeting God in Creation –  A pilgrimage walk led by Christopher Chapman

This walk begins and ends in Wye, at the foot of the North Downs. We will follow the Stour Valley Way towards Crundale Church, passing through fields, woodland and wildflower meadows. The path rises and falls, providing wide views across the Downs. After pausing at Crundale, we follow footpaths until we reach the ridge of the North Downs with views as far as the sea [weather providing!], before dropping down back to Wye. Creation will be our companion, and the encounter with it leads us into God.

The walk is 8 miles and is likely to take around 4 hours, including stops. There are some steep uphill and downhill sections, and some paths can be muddy if it’s been wet.

Wye is served by trains from London. Ashford and Canterbury. Free parking is available near the start/ finish point of Wye Church. There are several pubs in Wye, serving food, but you might like to take a picnic.
