The practice and gift of Centering Prayer

An online reflective morning led by Jill Benet

“In the Christian tradition, contemplative prayer is considered to be the pure gift of God. It is the opening of mind and heart – our whole being – to God, the Ultimate Mystery, beyond thoughts, words, and emotions, whom we know by faith is within us … closer than consciousness itself.” Fr. Thomas Keating OCSO Method Leaflet

In this reflective morning, Jill will lead us in the Method of Centering Prayer, touching on its roots, psychological background, and principal teacher, Fr. Thomas Keating.  The reflective space we will create as a group will be primarily concerned with the practice, its nuances and its gifts.  We shall sit together and enter into this silent prayer, often called the Prayer of Consent.  Opportunities will be given for sharing, questions and responses.
