Learn more about where you’ll study at St Augustine’s

Did you know you can choose between two fantastic campuses as a St Augustine’s student?

Our West Malling campus is in the heart of rural Kent, and Central London is home to our bustling Southwark campus. Each campus offers a distinct atmosphere, but both are bursting with friendliness and world-class teaching.

In this blog, we’ll take a closer look at both campuses, so you can decide which setting is right for you.

West Malling: A peaceful place to think

You’ll find our West Malling campus within the beautiful grounds of Malling Abbey in rural Kent, our West Malling campus is beautiful. The abbey has stood since the 11th century and has been home to a community of Benedictine nuns since 1916. It’s also where many of our students gather for teaching days, worship and study.

The atmosphere is calming and full of quiet inspiration. You’ll walk past ancient walls and into classrooms steeped in history.

Many students choose West Malling because they live nearby or they’re drawn to its peaceful setting. If you want a change of scene from our London campus, you can come here any time for retreats, prayer or a change of scene. The on-site library and study rooms are open during the week, too.

West Malling is a small, friendly market town with independent cafés, bakeries, and local shops; the ideal place for a coffee after class.

Travel connections to West Malling

It’s easy to reach the campus by train. It’s a short walk from West Malling station, with fast connections to London Victoria and Maidstone East. Excellent bus services link nearby towns like Rochester, Chatham, Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone.

Southwark: Study in the heart of London

If you prefer city life, our Southwark campus is tucked away on Borough High Street, minutes from London Bridge. It might be in the heart of London, but Trinity House is a quiet space to study and focus.

The building is modern and bright, with well-equipped classrooms, a full academic library and quiet spots for independent learning. It’s the perfect place to study if you live in or near the capital, or for anyone who loves the London buzz.

In terms of location, the campus is close to Shakespeare’s Globe and the famous Borough Market, famed for its food and artisan produce.

Travel connections to Southwark

You can get to Trinity House from anywhere in London or the South East. It’s between London Bridge and Borough Market tube stations, and well served by buses from across the city.

A place that feels like home

One of the things students tell us time and time again is how welcome they feel at St Augustine’s College of Theology.

They say the surroundings make a difference, but it’s more about the atmosphere and people.

Here’s how one student described their experience:

“I visited the Southwark campus for an evening and also went down to West Malling. Both places were easily accessible for me, but more than that, I was attracted to the warmth and the honesty in the rooms.

“I remember sitting at my first taster day and thinking: ‘This is what I want.’ Everyone was welcoming, open, and from such different backgrounds. I felt like this was somewhere I could be – and somewhere I was called to be.”
