‘Christian Faith and the Environment’ taster term – September 2026

Explore the relationship between Christian faith and the environmental crisis in this new taster term at St Augustine’s.

Over a single term, you will study what Scripture says about creation and human responsibility, how the church has engaged with environmental issues across history, and what a faithful response to the climate crisis might look like today.

Classes take place at St John’s Waterloo in London, running fortnightly on Friday mornings from September to November 2026. You don’t need any previous academic experience.

What will the course cover?

The Christian Faith and the Environment taster term covers a wide variety of topics, from environmental and social issues to Christian environmental ethics set in the context of church history.

You’ll learn more about biblical themes of creation and human responsibility, and look at how faith intersects with ministry, social justice, lifestyle, and politics. The course also examines the work of mission agencies and ecological ministry, giving you a bigger picture of how the church is responding to the environmental crisis.
