Sarah Atkins
Chaplain
“Stepping into theological study is a big step in anyone’s life. To do so, as many of our students do, as mature students, whilst juggling work, families, existing life commitments and challenges deserves support and understanding. “Life” continues to happen as you study and I add my support as Chaplain to that of the tutors at St. Augustine’s – to offer confidential listening and prayer and to signpost students to suitable sources of help, if appropriate.”
Sarah was ordained in 2019, following a 3 year part-time pathway at St. Augustine’s, after a 30 year career as a solicitor in local practice. Sarah came to ordained ministry through pastoral care for those in the church and wider community, training first as a Pastoral Auxiliary in Southwark diocese (SPA). She has a particular concern for people living with mental health and emotional challenges and has held voluntary roles in community mental health projects as well as psychiatric hospital.
Since 2022 Sarah has served at Holy Trinity, Claygate as an Associate Minister developing a ministry of ‘Restoration and Wholeness’.
