My particular joy today is to announce the appointment of the Rev. Dr Jenny Corcoran as St Augustine’s Tutor in Lay Education, Practical Theology, and Old Testament Studies. Currently, Jenny serves as chaplain to the Rt Revd Rose Hudson-Wilkin, Bishop of Dover,  and she will take up her post here on November 1st. The remarkable range of expertise that Jenny brings to St Augustine’s is evident in our having to create for her the longest tutorial title in the history of the college. In addition to steering our fast-expanding lay education program (‘Theology for Disciples’), she will oversee the development of our pastoral theology studies, teach in the field of practical theology, and bring her interdisciplinary approach to teaching the Old Testament. Prior to her six years as chaplain, Jenny held the post of Tutor in Practical Theology at St John’s College Nottingham. She has a Ph.D. in Old Testament and Practical Theology.

In addition to her academic expertise, Jenny brings, then, a rare combination of experience in both diocesan life and in the culture and community of theological education. Since both environments are as fascinatingly peculiar as rare primate communities in impenetrable jungles, I am confident that Jenny will shed light and understanding on the oddities of our lives as the college seeks to witness to God’s love and serve the Church.

Please pray for Jenny as she begins her work with us, and also for her husband Dan, who is mission priest in Faversham, and their two boys.

God bless.

Yours,

Alan
