New theology students at St Augustine's during induction week 2025.

St Augustine’s welcomes new theology students

This September, we welcomed a new group of students to St Augustine’s College of Theology for induction week. They’re beginning their journeys in all sorts of ways, from theology degrees and ordination training to short taster terms, and it’s been wonderful to see the excitement as they get started.

Courses starting this September

Our new students are beginning a wide range of programmes, based at our Southwark campus in central London, at West Malling in Kent, or online. These include:

Ordination and ministry training: Ordination training for those preparing for ministry in the Church of England, and training the next generation of Licensed Lay Ministers.

Theology, Ministry and Mission: A wide variety of levels from Certificate to BA, Master’s level and Diploma in Theology, Ministry and Mission.

Biblical Studies taster terms and short courses: Taster terms in Text and Traditions in Christian Spirituality and Biblical Studies, plus short language courses in New Testament Greek and Hebrew.

Postgraduate Study: Our Theology for a Planet in Crisis MA.

  • Our new students and tutors at our campus in West Malling, Kent. They also met the wonderful community of Benedictine nuns who live at Malling Abbey.

An inclusive, non-residential theology college

Our students have come from across the UK and even around the world, each with their own story, questions, and sense of calling. Some are studying full-time as independent students, others part-time, fitting their learning around work, family, or Church commitments.

Theology study at St Augustine’s combines academic lectures with conversations, times of collective worship, and reflection, along with lots of encouragement from tutors and fellow students. Already, friendships are starting to form, and it’s a joy to see.

Thinking about joining St Augustine’s as a theology student?

If you are wondering whether St Augustine’s might be right for you, why not take your first step and book a taster day? You’ll get a feel for the teaching and meet staff and students in person. Upcoming dates are listed here.

We’re so excited to see how this year’s students will develop. And who knows, perhaps next September, we’ll be welcoming you too!
