If you’ve been thinking about studying theology at St Augustine’s College of Theology, our taster days are the perfect reason to visit.
On a taster day, you’ll visit our campuses, sit in on live lectures, join us for worship if you’d like to, and chat with the tutors and students who could become your community.
Here’s what a typical taster day looks like.
Meet our wonderful tutors
Because our class sizes are small, our tutors know your name. They want to see you flourish, whatever your background or how far along your journey you are.
When you visit, you’ll meet the people who’ll teach and guide you. Ask them anything. Sit in and watch how they teach, and you’ll notice how much opportunity there is for discussion.

Meet our friendly students
Our current students come from all walks of life and every stage of their faith journey, and they’re always happy to share their experiences with visitors.
Ask them what a typical week looks like, how they balance study with work or family life, or what they wish someone had told them before they started.
Explore our campuses in London and Kent
Whether you visit our peaceful West Malling campus in Kent or our lively central London campus in Southwark, you’ll quickly get a feel for where you might spend the next stage of your training.
Take your time to explore, wander the grounds and facilities, look around the library and teaching spaces, and picture yourself here. Many visitors say it’s walking the campus, more than anything else, that helps them picture themselves as students at St Augustine’s.
Anthony Ma lives in London, and he’s studying a taster term at our London Bridge campus. We asked him what he thought of studying right in the heart of the city:
“I do most of my classes in person at Trinity House at Southwark. It’s very convenient to get there, so it wouldn’t be a problem to take evening classes – you can get home fairly quickly.”
Sample real theology lectures
A taster day lets you experience our teaching first-hand. You’ll sit in on live theology lectures on a range of subjects, and learn alongside current students, not separately from them.
Sampling lectures helps you understand how we teach, and you’ll see how we encourage discussion and take ideas seriously, whatever your previous academic experience.
Join us for worship
If you’d like to, you’re welcome to join our community for collective worship during your visit. It’s a way to experience daily life here, not just the academic side, and to see how faith and study sit alongside each other at St Augustine’s.
