Why attend a theology taster event?
Watch our video to hear why our relaxed taster events inspired many students to take the next step in their theological education.
“I visited the London Bridge college (Southwark) for an evening and came down to West Malling as well; both places are easily accessible. But I was also attracted to the warmth and honesty in the rooms with people in the lectures who were really welcoming to visitors.
“I also liked the style of discussion. It wasn’t a lecture hall where you were being talked at; you were being encouraged to think with.”
Jen Besant
Ordinand
“I was very fortunate to do a taster day, which turned out to be much more of a turning point than I thought when I signed up. I came and listened; it was very welcoming, and people were very open. People from all sorts of different backgrounds were there, and they were very encouraging.
“I thought, yes—this is somewhere I could be. This is somewhere I feel will give me the basis I need—the platform for whatever it might be that God wants me to do next.”
Patrick Berenger
Independent student:
“I did two days. The first was a taster in Biblical Studies. I remember sitting there and by about lunchtime thinking: ‘This is what I want.’”
