Visit St Augustine’s to see why it’s such a special place to study

If you’re due to start formation for ordained ministry in September, now is the time to visit St Augustine’s College of Theology.

Our May and June dates are the last taster events before the September 2026 intake. If you’ve been meaning to visit us, now is the perfect time.

What happens at a taster event?

Taster events are designed to give you a real feel for life at St Augustine’s – our community, teaching style, campuses, and atmosphere, before you commit to anything.

You can worship together with students, staff and other visitors; sit in on real theology lectures taught by the same tutors who’ll support you through your formation; have a good look around the peaceful grounds of our West Malling campus in Kent or the bustle of our London Bridge campus.

Both students below attended a taster event before applying for ordination training, and say it helped them make their decision.

‘St Augustine’s felt really safe’

Hayley Collett had tried a larger, more lecture-based course elsewhere before she visited St Augustine’s for a taster event.

‘The year before, I’d visited St Augustine’s and really loved that it had really small classes, and even as a visitor, I was interacting in those little lessons we’d visited. It just felt really safe, and it felt like it was the way I would learn.

‘I struggle sometimes to understand instantly and have to process and ask questions, and I felt like St Augustine’s was definitely the place for that. So when I did apply and got a place, it was really exciting.’

‘St Augustine’s felt like home’

Jolley Gosnold felt welcomed before he’d even set foot on campus, and that feeling only grew when he came to visit.

‘For me, St Augustine’s was such a warm and welcoming place, even just via email to start with. The warmth and generosity of the welcome I felt, even online, was really remarkable.

‘Visiting, seeing other students, the inclusivity, and the sense of deep theological engagement with big ideas about the world and the church really excited me. It felt like exactly the right place for me. It felt like home.’

What about the cost of ordination training?

In most cases, your diocese will fully fund your ordination training. If you’re unsure about your own arrangements, your DDO is the best person to speak to.
