Meet the Senior Tutor: Simon Stocks

Jan 6 Posted by Rebecca Young. Under Latest News, Meet the staff,

Simon Stocks is Senior Tutor and tutor for Biblical Studies at St Augustine’s. We asked him to tell us a little about himself and what his role at St Augustine’s College of Theology offers to our students. I’m from Manchester and a lifelong Manchester Utd supporter. I’ve also always been a keen runner, and have done the odd half-marathon, though age is catching up with me. My practical and problem-solving bent means that I spend my spare time on DIY and building projects, and when quieter moments are called for, crosswords. Like many of our…

Meet Chris Irvine – Honorary Teaching Fellow

Sep 15 Posted by Rebecca Young. Under Latest News, Meet the staff,

The Revd Canon Christopher Irvine is former Principal at The College of The Resurrection, Mirfield, and former Canon Librarian at Canterbury Cathedral. He is now an Honorary Teaching Fellow at St Augustine’s College of Theology. We asked him to talk a little about his role and the importance of theological education. I’ve spent most of my working life connected with theological education in some way. I wouldn’t say I was an eternal student, but I do have a serious vocational calling to the study of theology, and a strong belief that if you want to…

Meet the Principal

Jun 17 Posted by Rebecca Young. Under Meet the staff,

Alan Gregory has been Principal of St Augustine’s College of Theology since 2014. We asked him to talk about himself, his role and what he thinks St Augustine’s College of Theology offers our students. A bit about me Among contemporary clergy, including those who’ve recently graduated from St Augustine’s, I am statistically unusual in that, since I was ordained at 23, I’ve never had a ‘real’ job outside the Church. I’ve always been involved in some way in the business of theological education, whether I was working in a parish, studying for a Ph.D, or…

Meet the tutor: Suzy

Jun 12 Posted by Rebecca Young. Under Meet the staff,

Suzy Gregory is a member of the St Augustine’s teaching staff, providing tuition in writing, singing, and voice. We asked her to tell us a little about herself and what her role at St Augustine’s College of Theology offers to our students. My role at St Augustine’s is to give help and support to students, both in the Ordained Ministry and the Theology for Disciples programs, in the areas of writing, singing, and public speaking. Tuition in writing takes up most of my time but singing and voice production is also important. Speaking clearly, projecting…

Meet the Tutor: Guido

May 26 Posted by Rebecca Young. Under Meet the staff,

Guido de Graaff is a senior member of the St Augustine’s teaching staff, teaching Doctrine and Ethics as well as being Director of Studies. We asked him to talk about himself, his role and what he thinks St Augustine’s College of Theology offers our students. A bit about me My theological studies began in a very different church context, in the Netherlands, but what was similar was the sense that learning was always focussed on church life and ministry. After studying Theology at college, instead of going down the route of becoming a priest or…

Meet the tutor: Natasha

May 21 Posted by Rebecca Young. Under Meet the staff,

Natasha Natasha Klukach joined the St Augustine’s teaching staff in 2020. We asked her to tell us a little about herself and what teaching at St Augustine’s College of Theology means to her. A bit about me I’m Canadian and British, my mum having emigrated to Canada, and my Dad being Ukrainian and Belarusian, so you could say that diversity is part of my identity. The bringing together of different cultures and denominations is really important to me. After university in Toronto and Kingston (Ontario), I worked at the National Office of the Anglican Council…
